TAPE

Recording tape is a thin plastic strip coated with tiny magnetic grains. It is usually carried an spools inside a cassette. On a blank tape, these grains are randomly ordered. When recording sound, a tape head on a tape recorder arranges the grains to represent the tape, an erase head disrupts the pattern.
