TASTE BUD

A taste bud consist of receptor cells and supporting cells in the epithelium of the tongue. When a substance is chewed, it mixes with saliva, which enters the taste pores. This stimulates taste hairs on the receptor cells, which in turn transmit an impulse to the brain via nerve fibres.
